As luck would have it, the Buffalo Bills played Jacksonville today. With a new coach and some free time during the game, I figured this would be a great topic to ask a question.
OK, I tried asking a question:
ChrisCarosa @thurmanthomas Watcha know about Parrish’s sudden appearance?

I waited a while and watched a little more of the Bills game. When I returned, I found I got nothing, so I tried this one:
ChrisCarosa @mikemcbride9 How do I get find other #BuffaloBills fans to tweet with?
6 minutes ago from web in reply to mikemcbride9
And back I went to the game. I also took the time to brew some hot tea. Ten minutes later I returned to find this answer (and an instruction I later followed):
mikemcbride9 @ChrisCarosa Search for Buffalo Bills in the box
7 minutes ago from web in reply to ChrisCarosa
So I did what Mike said and connected to a few of the folks about the game. Nobody returned the favor, even though I know they were on Twitter because they were tweeting the game live. In the meantime, several people I followed earlier in the day from the Rochester Social Media scene did follow me back.
For some fun, I asked a question to a self-proclaiming internet marketing guru:
ChrisCarosa @GuruBrian What do you think are the best Twitter money making stories?
I gave Brian a few minutes to respond. He didn’t so I put the question to one of his competitors:
ChrisCarosa @RichCurrie Let’s see if you can beat brian: What do YOU think are the best Twitter money making stories?
Rich accepted the challenge and responded quickly:
RichCurrie @ChrisCarosa I thinks that a pretty broad question…I mean there are so many people making money from Twitter
RichCurrie @ChrisCarosa Or I am misunderstanding the question Chris…
To which I responded:
ChrisCarosa @RichCurrie Well, I hear a lot about it and read a lot about it, but I don’t actually see it. I might be looking in all the wrong places, tho
I kept it up with Rich for a while. He was really helpful. It was also fun to be able to have a twittersation – I never had one before. It was fun. It was entertaining. But I didn’t see my follower list go up at all because of it. Chances are, given the nature of the questions I was asking, I’m going to get a lot of SEO sellers who trawl at odd hours to pick me up. Just my luck.
How many followers do you think I’ll have after 30 days? Click here to enter your guess on my Survey Monkey survey “Chris Carosa’s 30-Day Plan to Dominate Twitter Experiment.” There’s no prize, but the fan who guesses the closest correct number the earliest will “win” and I’ll mention you if you want me to.
